First pile drilled for SEM project in Hoofddorp

Last Friday on 21 February 2025, an important milestone was reached for project SEM in Hoofddorp; the first pile foundation was drilled. This marks the start of the realisation of a special residential building with 280 apartments, located on Nieuweweg, between Kruisweg and Raadhuisplein.

The project includes a diverse mix of housing types: 30% social rented housing, 20% medium-priced rented housing and 50% owner-occupied housing in the free sector. In addition, 1,360m² of commercial space and various catering facilities will be realised. There will be 213 parking spaces for residents and visitors, and the building will have a communal roof garden as a green meeting place.

The project is being carried out by Boele & van Eesteren on behalf of Treehouse Hoofddorp cv. Over the past period, intensive planning and engineering work has been carried out in close cooperation with partners and suppliers.

The design features a dynamic façade with a combination of traditional brickwork and precast concrete elements with embedded half-bricks. The first seven floors form a characteristic H-shape, after which the building transitions into a set-back structure up to the thirteenth floor.

With the driving of the first pile, SEM enters a new phase. We look forward to a prosperous construction period and a beautiful end result!
